Welcome! We are the GFWC Hollywood Women's Club, a non-profit organization of women residing in Hollywood and the surrounding area who share a common bond: Community improvement through volunteer service.
We meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in our lovely historic Clubhouse. Daytime meetings are held the 1st Thursday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Our doors are always open to guests. Feel free to show up at any of our meetings, a new face is always a pleasant surprise! For those of you who would prefer to make contact ahead of time, please contact our Membership Chairman and she will be sure to meet you at the door.
If you are new to this community, there is no better way to make new friends, learn about your neighborhood and begin to feel comfortable in your new surroundings.
The main benefits of giving your valuable time to belong to the GFWC Hollywood Women's Club are:
• It’s a great way to socialize, you will meet many of your neighbors and form lasting friendships with other ladies.
• You can contribute to positive change affecting individuals and families by addressing the needs of the surrounding area.
• You can benefit through personal growth and leadership training.
• Learn about “Hot Topics” in the community and feel more connected to your neighborhood.
Together we identify the needs of our community and work towards improvement. We conduct fun monthly meetings in which we invite speakers to share important community issues followed by refreshments and time conversing with friends both old and new.
Our monthly meetings are hosted by our members, a team of ladies who decide what the topic will be for the evening. Our members grow by sharing ideas, connecting with other women and working together to make a difference. For guidelines on hosting a meeting, click here: host a meeting
CHARITIES
Our members are able to choose what charitable causes they wish to support. For the 2008/2009 year, these are some of the projects we are involved with:
* Kids in Distress
* Women in Distress
* College scholarships for teens that have survived cancer
* Domestic Violence
* Parnership with Hollywood Central Elementary School
* Born to Read
* Many others like Outreach, the Salvation Army, R.O.C.K Camp, Hacienda Girls Ranch, Canine Companions and many more.
ACTIVITIES
The Hollywood Women's Club provides many ways for you to get involved in your community, as well as to get involved with the club in a leadership or planning capacity. A brief list of events we have participated in include:
* Setting up an “Angel Tree” at Christmas for the children at Kids-in-Distress
* Raising funds with SunTrust Bank to restore our one-of-a-kind clubhouse
* Providing scholarship money for teens that have survived cancer
* Hosting our annual Community Bazaar & BBQ on the clubhouse lawn
* Joining together with other local clubs and organizations for a Community
Beach BBQ
