President’s Address

“Unity in Diversity”

Dear Fellow Members,

It is an honor to serve as the Hollywood Women’s Club president for the 2010-2012 term. I will do my best along with my awesome board members to lead our club into the new decade. We are facing many challenges, our biggest of which is securing the foundation for which our clubhouse has proudly stood for 80 plus years. However, I am certain that with our continued resolve and commitment from every member, a new and stronger foundation will be laid so that we can continue to provide quality community service which has been the pillars of our club for nearly a century.

            It is said that the only “constant” in life is change; with such prudent advice, we must and we will, make our pyridine shift towards a club that is inclusive of all women and always remain open to changes. As of today, the Hollywood Women’s Club is approximately 100 members strong and growing! As we progressively move forward towards another 80 plus years, we must affirm to step away from anything that is not inclusive of “Unity in Diversity” and arm ourselves with grace and fortitude to help us all reframe from pettiness.

In keeping with the GFWC’s motto, “Unity in Diversity,” I will ensure that our club upholds the true meaning of this motto which states, “We draw upon the individual talents of each GFWC member to expand our reach and do even more to strengthen our communities.”  Unity in Diversity means respecting each member who will in turn empower the Hollywood Women’s Club to accomplish any goal or obstacle faced.  From a broader scope, we will become the outstanding role models to our daughters and young women alike of which the founding members originally envisioned.
